Here is a brief selection of our recent work, and what we expect to be doing next month.
In April among other activities, we have…
- published a suite of guides, workbooks and videos, around digital inclusion, from our BOSS project.
- published reports of a site visit by the Age Friendly Steering Group to Leeds City station, with a response from Network Rail.
- held a second induction session with Travel with Confidence delivery partners, focusing on monitoring and evaluation
- started running Financial Inclusion sessions with 5 Charities this month before launching wider in May
- welcomed Emma Cooper to the team, as Travel With Confidence Support Worker
- sent out partnership agreements for all Enhance delivery partners for year 3
- offered the Yeadon area out to tender for the Enhance Programme
- run two face to face induction session for Enhance delivery partners
- ran a pilot session using creativity to create conversations about men’s health, in partnership with Performance Ensemble
- celebrated a whole year of the Good Practice Mentor project by getting the team together in Sheffield, where we made plans for what 2024 and 2025 will involve
- ran a small workshop for people who want support about group work. People were able to share ideas and go away to try out different solutions
- results of our Trending Elders Survey – quarter 4
- ran a Dementia Friends and a Wise Up to Ageism session for the staff team at Hyde Park Picture House.
- delivered a presentation to retailers from Leeds Train Station about the Age and Dementia Friendly business scheme.
- ran a Wise Up to Ageism session to staff from Ghyll Royd Care Home, Guiseley.
In May 2024, we expect to…
- mark Dementia Action Week, (13-19 May) and support and promote local events.
- host a creative showcase event for Dementia Action Week at Headingley Stadium (16 May) with stalls, workshops and much more.
- announce a new Enhance delivery partner for the Yeadon area
- submit a final monitoring report to the Road Safety Trust for Driving Change Together
- finalise all the monitoring requirements for Travel with Confidence
- run a joint MHU network stall at Leeds Market, showcasing members’ services, as part of the Mental Health Awareness Market Place Event on 16 May
- finish creating toolkits for organisers, to help them spread good practice around running welcoming groups. People will be able to join a session to brief them on running the training.
- attend the British gas Energy Trust conference in Manchester to meet lots of their advisers and talk to them about engaging older people with financial advice
- open up booking of Financial inclusion sessions to the wider Third sector to book
- deliver Dementia Friends and Wise Up to Ageism to staff at Leeds Central Library
- attend Cross Gates LCP Dementia Event with the Dementia Friendly Leeds stall.
- deliver Dementia Friends and Wise Up to Ageism to staff at Leeds Train Station.
