New funding from the Road Safety Trust

Profile image for Rob Cook

Communications Officer

It’s with great pleasure that we share with you that LOPF has been successful in securing funding from the Road Safety Trust for an exciting new project: Driving Change Together.

We will be working alongside the William Merritt Centre to look at how we start to think about retiring from driving. How and when this decision is made is a very sensitive subject that affects most drivers at some stage in our lives.

On left, white text: "Keeping older motorists on the road safely for longer" - on an orange background. On the right, an older man with a woman and a young boy.

Like our friends at the Older Drivers Forum we want Leeds to keep older drivers safe on the roads. so Our funding will be used to build an awareness campaign that is designed by older adults for older adults.

Our campaign, to be launched in Road Safety Week (17-24 November 2023), will include:

  • workshops and educational sessions
  • updates on changes to the Highway Code
  • information on alternative transport options.

As part of the campaign we will be recruiting Driving Change Together Champions. Please get in touch if you would like to know more, about being a champion or about the campaign as a whole.

LOPF and William Merritt are very much looking forward to seeing how this very much needed work can support safety on the roads.

Driving Change Together is funded until March 2024.
