Digital inclusion for older people: free webinar, 25 February

We know that being online can help people to live better, easier, longer lives, and it is often those who lack digital skills and confidence who would most benefit from embracing tech. We invite you to take part in a free webinar on February 25, to enable you and your organisations/groups to support older people to overcome barriers to digital inclusion

Organisations across Leeds have been working hard to support older people to make the most of the online world especially through the pandemic.

Many older people are already discovering how they can live independently for longer by using online services to keep in touch with family and friends, stay healthy and active, and help their money go further. Covid-19 has encouraged older people to go online and to use the internet in new ways, but there are still many that are digitally excluded and unable to access the fantastic opportunities being online can bring.

Leeds Older People’s Forum and 100% Digital Leeds have recently launched a Digital Inclusion group with Leeds Neighbourhood Networks and organisations supporting older people to share best practice and work together to support older people with digital inclusion. This has strengthened partnership working and is having an invaluable impact in bridging the digital divide.

100% Digital Leeds, Leeds Older People’s Forum, Age UK Leeds and Time To Shine are working in partnership to host this event, bringing together people and organisations looking to support older people with digital inclusion, however far along they are with their digital journey.

In this webinar, organisations from the Digital Inclusion group will bring together learning, tools, resources and positive solutions to enable you and your organisations/groups to support older people to overcome barriers to digital inclusion.

Who should take part?

If you’re working or volunteering with older people and are interested in digital inclusion, we would love to meet you. You don’t have to be doing any digital yet and we expect to see people from a range of different organisations, community projects, and social groups of all sizes.

Whether you’re confident in engaging older people with digital or want to find out how to get started, you and your organisation will benefit from the contacts, practical learning, and hints and tips on offer within this webinar.

If you’re a Digital Champion, supporting or interested in supporting older people, it would be great to see you.

The event is free but places are limited so please book on Eventbrite. There will be short talks and a chance to join in discussions with members of the Digital Inclusion group, and it will be recorded for those who are unable to attend live.
