Let’s look under the bonnet of transport in older people’s organisations!
For anyone with an interest in transport and how you use it effectively we are holding a learning session to share information gathered by Time to Shine small funds projects about how their use of transport has supported their members, and what they have managed to change to make it work better.
We will have presentations from:
- Caring Together who looked at using a range of measures (including escorted walking) and reacting flexibly to keep people involved
- Otley Action for Older People who will talk about how they have made the best use of their vehicle fleet and improved the lives of their volunteer drivers
- For Disability Mobility will let us know how capacity in their vehicle fleet encouraged them to set up a new social group, the 327Social Club.
There will then be a chance for discussion of the topics raised, and an opportunity to ask questions and share any hot tips from your organisation.
We hope to also have a report back on the current stage of the Leeds City Council Centre for Ageing Better door-to-door transport pilot.
The event will not cover issues to do with Northern Rail, Arriva or First Bus! (But please feel free to talk about any of these over lunch if you would like to.)
This free event is open to anyone involved in transport for older people within their organisation. Please book your place on Eventbrite so we know how many people to expect.
