As you probably already know, Time to Shine has commissioned eleven new projects to start this year, and they are already getting underway.
One of them is brought to us by Canal Connections, a social enterprise which gets people out on the Leeds waterways as a way to socialise in a different environment and learn a new set of skills.
Alan Bolton, the project director says, “The boat can take a maximum of 12 people at a time, which is a perfect size to get them talking to each other. Travelling at 3 miles per hour, it doesn’t get more relaxed than that.”
Alan also had a fantastic idea for the symbol of the project: the maritime flag pictured below. It stands for the letter K as part of the alphabet, but when it’s on its own it simply means: “I wish to communicate with you.”
We can’t think of a more perfect flag for a Time to Shine project to fly.
