LGBT+ Community Development Worker
35 hours per week (negotiable), four months fixed term, Scale SO1 Spinal point 29, currently £25,694 (pro rata for 4 months)
Leeds has a large and diverse LGBT+ population but doesn’t have a developed community infrastructure that reflects this. Leeds City Council has made funding available to employ a Community Development Worker to undertake a short intensive period of exploratory work from which further LGBT+ community development will grow. You will gather information on existing provision, have conversations with a range of citizens and professionals, visit other cities around the country to find out more about their hubs and develop a case for future work.
You will have a good understanding of LGBT+ communities, including diversity; an ability to build good relationships, to gather and present information clearly and impartially and have an understanding of community development approaches. Your skills and experience may be gained in a personal, work or volunteering capacity.
This is an opportunity to be part of friendly, supportive and dynamic team. You will be employed by Leeds Older People’s Forum but will work across all four health and social care forums and with all ages.
We are seeking candidates that can start as soon as possible and work full-time for four months. However, flexibility can be offered for the right candidate, in which case we are happy to negotiate on the start date and/or weekly hours (i.e. working fewer hours over an extended period).
