Older LGBT*Q people are invited to attend the launch of Yorkshire MESMAC and Age UK Leeds partnership project for Time to Shine.
11th March, 1pm-4pm at Age UK, Bradbury Building, Mark Lane, Leeds, LS2 8JA
Formerly referred to as ‘A Gay Old Time’, the as-of-yet unnamed project will offer bespoke services for older LGBT*Q people across Leeds.
Whilst Leeds has a rich network of resources for older people, those who are lesbian, gay, bisexual and/or trans* often report anxiety in accessing services, due to experiences of discrimination or fear that they will be misunderstood.
As a result LGBT*Q people are much more likely to be socially isolated and lonely in their later years.
The event is a chance to meet other older people, get involved and help name the project.
Launch activities will include a film and pinning local gay locations on the national Pride of Place map: http://historicengland.org.uk/prideofplace
